Like much of the image driven media, black faces are absent from high end fashion. Deddeh Howard was experiencing this a lot when agencies told her that they “already had a black model” Fashion company’s campaigns will include people of all colours, but as the exception rather than a rule.
Howard, a model from Liberia who lives and works in Los Angeles, launched “Black Mirror” to highlight the lack of diversity in the industry. The project recreates photos from famous campaigns by Victoria’s Secret, Calvin Klein, and Chanel. Howard worked with photographer Raffael Dickreuter to create the images.
